Wk 10

This is a video of The BBoy Akademics in 2007 I believe and believe it or not but the first guy who was breakdancing is my boyfriend, before we got together and he was on the chubby side. Well anyways after watching this clip I was like damn, these guys must really put in time for this, they must be really dedicated to this, just look at their moves, I sure can’t any of that. I asked my boyfriend how much time he put in and I was shocked at his answer, he told me that before when breakdancing was his passion, he used to practice 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week and he did that for about 3 years straight. Breakdancing isn’t easy, it takes time, efforts, and of course strength in order to do it, talk about passion and dedication.

This poem is about how women hide their imperfections through make-up. Everybody has something to hide, to cover up their insecurities. It’s also covering up their past, there’s something that happen that they’re afraid of getting out, if it gets out they are then afraid of their friends not understanding, they too will leave. When the one who is afraid finally lets her friends or someone special in, she is showing off her true, special, unique self hoping, praying that she wouldn’t get rejected, once accepted she explains that she still needs to hide her true self from other people just in case they themselves don’t understand where she’s coming from.

After reading this poem, I really liked it. It’s about someone who wears makeup to feel beautiful about their self. The way society is today, it makes women feel like the only way to be beautiful is to wear makeup to cover up “imperfections.” Women should never feel so ugly that they have to hide their true selves behind foundation, mascara, and rouge. Towards the end of the poem, she finally takes her makeup off to see if the person she is with will truly love her for her, but she says that she will need to save her paint brush in case someone doesn’t understand the way she looks and if that happens, she will hide behind the makeup again.

This is a picture of one of the rabbits I used to have, Nala, she was a lion headed rabbit, that’s right, a LION HEADED RABBIT. She had the long coat and coat color and mane like a lion, but since it’s a she, she’s more like a lioness. After taking this picture and looking at it for a few minutes, I realized something; I realized Nala is also acting like a lion. She’s down low in the “tall” grass, blending in with her surroundings, listening to what’s happening, watching and waiting. Also if you look closely to her eyes and posture, she looks confident in herself. Nala was truly an amazing rabbit.

I have to agree with ginalippett, this picture does signify the importance of hope and how everyone should stay hopeful. When doing activities/events in life at a fast pace, driving, you only can go “one way,” and that is in the direction you are going which yes has Hope but you normally don’t see it. But when you slow down, as in walking, Hope is in multiple directions, you just need to take the time to recuperate and refresh to see it. In difficult times you don’t see the brighter side or have faith because you’re caught up in the situation, but if you take the time to relax you realize you do have faith and you use it. This picture is indeed inspirational to all.

When you are faced with hard times or put in situations when you feel helpless, there will always be a way to make things better. As long as you believe and have faith, you can improve your situation. The one-way sign is pointing in the direction of hope. I think whoever took this picture was trying to say that there is only one way to hope and that route is the only way you can go. This picture should give inspiration to people who need a positive light in their lives.

WK 8

I liked this video; it was truly amazing and creative. This was a creative way to get more people to walk up the stairs rather than taking the escalator. The guys who came up with this plan really did have to out in the time and effort in making it happen. They saw that there was a problem and set out to fix it, they turned the stair case into a piano. The most amazing part was the fact that it actually worked, in watching this video, I saw that more people were taking the stair case rather than the escalator. They achieved their goal. I wish they did something like that in the US.

I think this video is pretty cool. I actually wish I could do it, because I can see myself running up in down those stairs trying to create my own masterpiece. :-) I think the person that posted this video was trying to show how something out of the ordinary can catch people’s attention, and can also influence their choices. I think it also shows how weird things hapeen all the tie, and no one really thinks about it. They just went right ahead and played on the piano, but didn’t really wonder why it was there or who put it there. I’m not going to lie, I would totally fall into the category of only taking the stairs because the piano was on the stair steps, otherwise I would be all over the escaltor. This will now make me think twice next time I’m in the escalator vs. stairs situation. (Which is also another point I think the vieo was trying to proove).

I think this idea of changing a stairway into piano steps is really cool. It’s very interesting how it made everyone-even the elderly people-want to take the stairs rather than the escalator. Choosing a busy subway entrance meant more and more people were going to stop and take the stairs. I noticed that it wasn’t in the U.S. though. It makes me wonder what would happen if a staircase like this one was in the U.S. Would the statistics of the U.S. being so unhealthy change? And how many people would ultimately be in better shape because of a piano staircase?

This is really cool. I used to play the piano when I was little so it kind of brings back memories. It’s a really creative commercial and I think that the type of people who would like this would also buy a volkswagon. The purpose of making this video was to capture the attention of a audience who would be a potential customer. I honestly think it would work. Instead of taking the escalator, or instead of choosing the typical car, you should take a different route like the piano stairs that symbolizes a volkswagon car.

This quote is about being a leader and how it is important to be involved with your subjects to understand them, to get the main message. If someone just tells you about a subject or problem or situation, you’re going to forget, regardless. For example, telling you not to waste your food because there’s starving children in Africa. If they show you the starving children, you will remember to not waste your food and that’s because it impacted your way of thinking. If you get involved in the fight to feed Africa you’ll understand why there are starving children. That’s what makes a leader, you need to understand why you’re fighting or doing what it is you need to do, you need to have a sense of purpose.

My boyfriend told me about a group of guys called Mega64, and how they make fun of video games. He told me that I had to look them up and he promises that I wouldn’t regret it. Well I did and I surely was cracking up. Well I came across this video, Mega64 Frogger, and I was amazed at the dedication these guys had; they literately portrayed the game perfectly. The object of the game is to cross the street without getting ran over while being a frog. I came up with the following reasons why they seem to be doing this: 1. They’re bored, 2. They love video games, or 3. They wanted to take their video game experience to the next level, meaning bring it to life. Whatever their true reason or reasons may be, it’s funny, entertaining, dangerous (sometimes), and original; these guys have guts to be doing this. If you’re a gamer, you should definitely check out their other videos!

This is actually an interesting video; I wasn’t expecting to see the car mysteriously appear on the other side of the fence like that. This video shows us how unexplainable things happen, in the real world, one minute you’re chasing a high speed car, whose swerving uncontrollably and still manages to remain in control of the car, then all of a sudden when you think you have him cornered, he pulls a fast one on you. In the end, the bad guy wins and the good guys lose. If you kind of think about it, it’s somewhat like paranormal activity, something happens and you don’t have an explanation for it.

I decided to post this video because it’s getting close to Halloween and I wanted to post something scary. I’ve seen this video several times and for those who have not seen it, enjoy. I think what the author is trying to portray is that some things can be very unnatural and are not easy to explain. It’s weird that the person driving was driving so crazy and was still able to control the car. You would think that all the swerving and jerking of the car would cause the driver to lose control, but he never did. I’m not sure if anyone else noticed it, but i most certainly did. We should be the person we want to be, not some fake person, we are then lying to ourselves. For example, we may not want to be that supermodel, but we sure do love to eat McDonalds. This is the most amazing wedding ever! I’m seriously jealous now; I want my wedding to be as creative as theirs. I have to agree with both composingconnections and kristas-09, that is the most unique wedding; Jill and Kevin put some serious hard work planning the whole thing. I also love how their friends and family, the bride’s maids and groom’s men, went along to make it truly a special day for them two. I also liked the song they choose to play, Forever by Chris Brown, the title itself is telling us they they’re going to be together forever. When you actually look up the lyrics for the song and read it, you’re like wow this makes the perfect wedding song. The song is about being able to trust him and for him making that one night, the wedding, truly memorable for her. They both have been waiting their whole life for that one moment, that they would marry someone truly amazing, someone who would love them for who they are.

I agree with kristas-09 that this video is a lot of fun. I like how they managed to keep a certain feeling of spontaneity despite its obvious pre-plannededness. Anymore, people spend so much money on their weddings, it really should be a celebration that is special to the couple. Here, they’ve managed to take the old tradition of “walking down” the aisle and make it their own. Instead of going through the motions of a tradition they had no part in making, they found a way to be truly original. Also, I really like that the couple approaches the “altar” together. There’s a very nice sentiment to the idea of going into this whole married thing together (instead of one person being “given away” to another).

This video is so hilarious! It would be so much fun to get married like that. I bet they had a ton of fun and the families watching really looked like they enjoyed it. They were all clapping along and having a great time. I like that they decided to do that for their entrance. It is very unique and fun. It is not traditional and that makes it even more exciting. I think that this is what the couple wanted to do to stick out and really have a good time getting married. it was a very cute idea and I loved it. Maybe one day I will get married like that.

This is a music video from one of my favorite bands, Breaking Benjamin, but instead of having a traditional music video, they put clips from the movie 300. They did this to add in the dramatic effect, the song is called Blow Me Away, which is about someone trying to take over your home and so you turn around and fight them for the right to have it. In the song its states that Only the Strongest Will Survive, meaning the strongest of the two will get to have the place. In this case the outsiders are trying to take over Sparta and the King wouldn’t have it, he’s going to fight till death to protect his people. The song and the clips from the movie 300 make an AMAZING combination, in my opinion, for this music video because I just love it!

This movie was so cute and adorable to me. When I went to see it I thought it would be a childish movie, but it turned out the writer wanted to convey a message about life not just about food. Throughout this movie there is a conflict between the main character and is dad. The dad thinks that his son should try to stop invent things, but his son loves to invent so much, so he doesn’t listen to him. The dad doesn’t know what to do and ignores his son by not showing him the affection he needs to. I think the writer shows that you should always be proud of your kid no matter what, and you should show them your love. Another thing the writer is trying convey is people shouldn’t be so selfish. Everyone orders to much and cares about only what they want. This ends up making the food larger and destroying the town.

I also went and saw this movie in theatres and was not sure if it would be a very good movie. But it turns out that it was really good. I loved it! It had a good story line, good characters, and really cool graphics. It also was really funny and made me laugh a lot which is always good. There was even a love story behind it too. I believe that the writer did a very good job on this movie. The meaning behind the story was cute and the story line portrayed it well. In the movie the main character and his dad do not really get along well. But by the end of the movie they realize that they love each other and learn to appreciate each other more. The main character also gets the girl in the end, a good ending any day. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

WK 5

Cloudy with a Chance of Meat Balls is a really amazing, you don’t know what to expect next. In this movie there are multiple conflicts, man vs. man, man vs. self, and man vs. world (community). First off man vs. man, there are two in this movie, the first one is between the main character and himself. The main character feels like he’s a failure in life, his inventions doesn’t seem to work properly and he’s a disappointment to everyone, but he continues to try. The other one is between the weather girl and herself, she feels like no one would like her if she’s “too” smart, so she changes her look dramatically; she let her hair down, took off her glasses, changed her style, and of course stopped using her advanced vocabulary. Man vs. man, the main character and his dad, the dad doesn’t feel like he has that fatherly bond with his son because they have nothing in common. He tries to communicate with his son but doesn’t know how exactly, so he tries in the way he knows best, by giving his son advance by using fishing metaphors. And finally, man vs. world (community), the main character finally invents the most astonishing invention EVER and the city loves is, so they take advantage of him by contently requesting some kind of entrée. Well after awhile because of the community, the invention starts to go haywire, destroys the city, and the community turns on the main character.

- I did this quiz on Facebook called What Love Quote Are You? and after taking this quiz the quote above was my results. What this quote is saying is that there’s no perfect person out there for us, but in love we see the imperfections in that one person and accept them for who they really are. We don’t care if sometimes their hair is all messed up due to the wind, if they have that one zit on the tip of their nose, or wheither or not when they sing it’s like they’re killing a poor innocent cat. We just don’t care. We see all those as corks, that’s what drew us into them, sometimes. The annoying orange is a video I came across earlier this week on YouTube. I freaking love this video, I promise anyone that if you are having a terrible day, this will make it all better. My roommate and I laughed so hard at this until we almost cried. My roommate is now running around imitating the talking orange and believe me it is annoying. The apple and the orange to me show how the apple has a short temper, until the apple blew up. Unfortunately for the apple this story did not end well, he ended up getting eaten. I felt so bad.

Oh my goodness. This video is so hilarious. Collegecutie wasn’t lying when she said is was hilarious. I have never heard of this video before. The orange really is annoying to the point where you just want to knock him out. I would have to say I have a short temper like the apple, especially when it comes to people constantly calling my name or just being stupid like the orange. I hate that the apple had to get eaten. The orange really did warn him but it was a little too late to get a warning. But I would most certainly hate to be the pear because now it’s his turn to be annoyed by the orange.

Wow! I have to say that this video was funny, for like the first 10-15 sec, maybe 15 sec then it just got annoying. This reminds me of what I’m learning in my Behavioral Principle’s class. If Apple was reinforcing Oranges’ behavior by getting mad and giving him that attention by responding. What he should have done, since he didn’t like the behavior, was to simply to ignor him, this process is called extinction. And he would stop that behavior soon, since he wasn’t getting at attention he so wanted disparately. Other than that, I, myself, would probably have done what Apple did…get annoyed, ticked-off, and then pissed-off.

The text above was a chain letter sent to me by email a few years ago from one of my good friends. I fell in love with it so I had to print it out; to this very day I still have the email with me. I turn to this email after a bad break up or when I believe I wouldn’t find that one special guy who would treat me the way I should be treated. And after reading this I feel much better and confident that he’s out there, waiting. He’s waiting to make his move, but doesn’t know how to. Instead he’s planning out some special way to let me know how he truly feels about me. I believe I found him too.

I passed over this picture while flipping through postsecret, a completely addicting sight; some of the postcards are funny, some are serious, some are happy, then there are other’s like this that are just so depressing. The person who posted this secret is revealing her insecurity about her self-image. So many people, and not just girls, have strong insecurities about the way they look, but he person who wrote this secret is actually to the point where she’s wishing for a serious disease because she thinks it will improve the way she feels about her looks. I just find that selfish, what would people who actually have breast cancer feel when they saw this? The girl could just go get plastic surgery if she feels that strong a hatred for her own body, but I don’t even believe in plastic surgery if it isn’t for actual medical purposes. There are too many people who are perfect just the way they are, but feel flawed and in some tiny detail and want to change themselves over it. If everybody did this we’d all end up looking like clones of some supermodel. Why would anyone want that? I realize some parts of my own body aren’t ideal, my nose is too big and my stomach isn’t as toned as it could be, but I like them the way they are; they’re what make me my own person.

Postsecret is an addicting sight to go and yeah there is a wide range of emotion on these secrets. I have to agree with you, most people are insecure about their image and yeah sometimes it does get to that point where they do get plastic surgery. I believe they do it because someone very close to them pointed out some kind of flaw that they themselves hadn’t notice and now it’s the center of attention. They probably feel like everyone else in the world can see that one particular flaw and them too will judge them for it. To me, the way she’s going about it is all wrong, I don’t think she thought twice about what she said before she posted it. She probable doesn’t even know how it is when someone goes through chemo due to cancer, well I do, my mother was diagnosed with leukemia back in 2002. You just don’t lose weight; you also lose your hair, your taste, even yourself dignity when you go out in public, regret things in your past, not to mention your feelings about others change. Your whole life changes without a single notice and when you finally pull through you’re thankful God has given you your life back.

I love seeing pictures that make me say, “awww..”. It’s very cute in a romantic way , and it reminds me of the movie The Notebook, which is one of my favorites. Also, the photography is very meaningful. The way the umbrella is accented by its vibrant red color gives this photo a lot of character. I don’t really like how the guy is standing though. He needs to work on his posture issues. I think the umbrella is covering their face to symbolize that they’re hiding and want to gain the privacy our modern world doesn’t normally provide us wit. Overall, the landscaping and position of the picture is beautiful and I love it.

I absolutely love this photo! It’s love, passion, and course poetry. This reminds me of when my boyfriend and I kiss ourselves. He’s 5’11” and I’m 5’3”, so of course he has to bend down to get me on my level because I’m so short, just like the couple. The photo is in black and white which ascents on the passion they have, they are in love. The scenery in the background shows the assents of romance, the walk in the park-alone-as a couple, and the calm lake. The vibrant red umbrella draws attention to the passionate couple, although the umbrella maybe hiding their faces it still draws attention to the whole feeling the photographer is trying to express.

So today I went to the movies to see Fame. When I first saw the previews I was like wow this seems really interesting and I had to see it. After watching this movie I was purely amazed on how much time and efforts students in the performing arts had to put-in in order to “make” a name for themselves. I thought I had it difficult, with all my advance classes and extracurricular activities in high school, I guess I never realized how much time and effort they had to put in themselves. I just assumed that they had it easy in their classes; they just had to know how to draw, dance, play an instrument, ect. They too need to have that passion, dedication, determination, drive within to want to press forward toward their, our dreams in hopes of achieving them later in life.

This video makes a brief reference to some drug use and sexual activities.

Okay…just to start, I love this movie with a passion, and this is one of my favorite parts in it. That, however, was not the only reason I chose to post it. This clip is from the movie Across the Universe and features Jim Sturgess covering a Beatles song, I’ve Just Seen A Face. This song seems to indicate to me the writer’s belief in love at first sight. The song says,”I’ve just seen a face. I can’t forget the time or place where we just met, she’s just the girl for me…fallen, yes I have fallen…” and in the end of the clip Jude, Jim Sturgess’s character, even indicates that he no longer cares about his own girlfriend or the fact that the girl he’s “fallen” for has a boyfriend, because he loves her.

While love at first sight is very romantic as an idea and always works out very well for everyone in movies, I don’t believe it really happens. In order to truly love someone you probably should at least know their name and maybe whether or not they’re even a person you could get along with. I think what that’s called it lust at first sight.

Although I have to agree with you for the most part about love at first sight I also have to disagree as well. In situations with love it just depends on the person, and how young and naïve they are. For someone who is young and just getting used to their hormones it is difficult to understand what love truly means, they often believe what society deems possible through TV and movies, that it is common to fall in love with someone at first sight but in all actuality, that is lust at first sight. It takes a person who is well matured to realize that love goes deeper into who a person is and how they live their life, and to realize that falling in love at first sight while rare is still possible only when you are able to truly see that person. You have to see what they do from afar. It’s kind of like being an observer because you’re seeing what kind of person they actually are but from a distance, not up close in person.

I got this quote from www.myhotcomments.com under the quotes tab. What I like about this quote is what it’s saying to me as a person. It’s actually saying different things at once, but in order to get the full effect of what its saying you have to break it down into sections, or take a moment to reflect.

To me this quote is saying that we need to enjoy everything life has to offer us. Be random (that’s what I do), funny, lighthearted, ECT. Don’t let the difficult times weight your heart down, exclude you from the marry times in life. What you have to do is “get right back on the horse” try something different, whether it’s something completely and totally out of your comfort zone or a “baby step”.
